How often should I get my car aircon regassed?
As a guide, most cars benefit from a regas every two years. Refrigerant escapes slowly over time even with no fault, so cooling gradually weakens. If your air conditioning isn’t as cold as it once was, it’s worth booking a check regardless of when it was last done.
How do I know if my car's air conditioning needs regassing?
The clearest signs are warm or barely cool air from the vents, weak airflow, cooling that comes and goes, or unusual noises when you switch the AC on. Any of these is worth having checked before the system fails.
How long does an aircon regas take?
A standard car aircon regas usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on your vehicle and whether any leaks need attention. Most jobs are completed the same day.
Do you check for leaks during a regas service?
Yes. We vacuum-test the system to confirm it holds pressure before recharging, and we can add UV dye to trace harder-to-find leaks. There’s no value in recharging a leaking system, so we always identify the cause first.
What type of refrigerant do you use in air conditioning regas?
We use the refrigerant your vehicle was built for: R134a in most cars built before around 2017, and R1234yf in newer European models. We’re equipped to handle both, and the two are never interchanged.
Can a regas fix all air conditioning problems?
